On the far northern border of South Africa lies a beautiful area known as The great Marico and it is in this spectacular setting that the Tau Game Lodge is situated. The jumbled hillocks of Tshwene-Tshwene and the dramatic ridge of the Dwarsberg Mountains expose rocks of up to 2 630 million years old and artifacts of the Stone and Iron Age are still found in the Great Marico dust.

Tau Game Lodge is located in the heart of South Africa's fourth largest game reserve. In addition to a large diversity of antelope, the malaria-free Madikwe is once again home to both white and black rhino, bufalo, lion, elepahnt, leopard and cheetah. In its dedication to conservation, Tau donates a percenatge of its revenue to wild dog and predator monitoring in the reserve.

Courteous to the great might of Africa, a subtle arc of ethnically decorated, air-conditioned chalets overlook a waterhole and the rolling hills of the inselbergs. From your private deck or outdoor shower witness the ancient tryst of herds and hunters, compelled  by thirst to imperil their fragile lives.

As the Southern Cross and Orion's Belt garland the dome of the night sky, the distant smell of campfire from the open air boma welcomes guests back from their evening game drive to a meal of exotic African delicacies.

Only four to four and a half hours from Johannesburg, Tau is perfect for group safaris and corportae get-aways, offering guests the warmest Marico hospitality...
